Lucky Lottery winners jet off for San Francisco stay

The once-in-a-lifetime trip will see 44 winners from the Winning Streak TV Gameshow and their guests stay at the exclusive Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill, which recently hosted President Barack Obama and was also used to film interior and exterior shots for the 1980s TV show Hotel.

They will be treated to a gala dinner at the city’s famous St Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco Bay, overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge, and spend a day at the Rams Gate Winery in Sonoma where they’ll sample some of the region’s finest wines and champagnes.

And to top it all off, they each have €2,500 spending money as part of their prize.

Hailing from every part of the country, from Cork to Donegal, Kerry to Mayo, the excited group took to the skies in style yesterday and for many of the winners this will be their first trip to the USA.

Gameshow host Marty Whelan is accompanying the winners on their luxury trip and 2FM’s Rick O’Shea Show will broadcast from San Francisco on Monday and Tuesday, with some of the trip winners involved in these broadcasts.

“Here at the National Lottery we’re delighted to bring 44 winners’ dreams to life by sending them and their guests on a trip of a lifetime to San Francisco,” said Dermot Griffin, chief executive of the National Lottery.

The winners all played Winning Streak TV Gameshow between January and May.

Around one third of all sales of National Lottery games goes to fund beneficiary projects around the country.

Since the National Lottery was launched, more than €4.4 billion has been used to fund a vast number of projects from arts and culture to sports amenities.
