But industry experts say it’s just a matter of time before the latest
film tops the list and possibly becomes the most successful movie of all time here. The Disney smash hit had already entered the top 10 movies chart for 2015 just four days after its December 17 release.
The JJ Abrams-directed film broke box office records around the world for its opening weekend, including Ireland where it earned €836,845 on its opening day — the record for the biggest single day in ticket sales.
— part of which was shot on Skellig Michael off the Kerry coast — is now expected to challenge , which grossed €8,702,770, for the title of the most successful movie ever released in Ireland.

Eoin Wrixon, general manager with movie advertising specialists Wide Eye Media, said: “2015 has been a magnificent year for the box office and one of the strongest years for Irish cinema admissions.
"Box office receipts from January 1 to December 20 are at €99,236,904, which is 7% up on the same period last year when receipts were at €93,062,720.

There hasn’t been a new entry to the list of the top movies of all time at the Irish box office since 2012.
Mr Wrixon expects
