Man who killed girl in fire jailed for 13 years

A Sligo man who killed a five-year-old when he set fire to her house has been jailed for 13 years.

John Lynch, originally from Sligo and with an address at 39 Church View in Boyle, Co Roscommon, where he lived with his girlfriend, also received two eight-year concurrent sentences for arson and causing serious harm.

Lynch, who has 17 previous convictions, including assault and possession of a shotgun, pleaded guilty to the three charges.
