The Taoiseach and Tánaiste have repeatedly refused to rule out doing a deal with independent TD Michael Lowry after the election.

Enda Kenny would not dismiss the idea of approaching the Tipperary TD as possible support, but said he would prefer not to have to do businesses with any independent to form a government.

His stance was echoed by Tánaiste Joan Burton who said she would not be “jumping ahead” of the election but didn’t close the door on Mr Lowry.
