A wet week won’t seem so long with brewer’s pint app
Fed up with our rain- sodden summer, those behind Murphy’s stout have decided to try and turn those grey clouds black. Murphy’s launched a new app yesterday, giving away 1,000 pints per day each day it rains.
The When it Rains it Pours app, which is available for both Android and Apple phones, is free and available to download today.
Users can claim their free pint every day Met Éireann says it rains. They then have three days to redeem it by showing it at the bar of a participating pub.
About 100 pubs from all across Cork city and county are taking part, with more set to join in.
Murphy’s brand manager Peter Murphy said the company came up with the app to try and brighten up the dreary weather: “All you have to do is look out your window. Us here at Murphy’s would absolutely love gorgeous, sunny weather, but we are being realistic. We want to give something back to drinkers of our brand and make the wet weather more bearable.
“We have had a great reaction from pubs, and as far as the weather is concerned, we may as well throw statistics out the window.”
The app includes a map of participating pubs, the number of free pints available, and the amount of days punters have left to redeem their pint.
Met Éireann meteorologist Pat Clarke said that while today would be rainy, warm weather was set to greet us later this week.
“The good news is that the weather will turn warmer and more humid, with temperatures reaching into the 20s, with low rainfall, although next week will see a return to changeable conditions.”
The promotion will run from now until the end of September.
