WATCH: Dad's heartwarming response to son choosing an Ariel doll

YouTuber Mikki Willis had a powerful question to ask dads everywhere after a recent trip to the toy store with his son Azai.

Azai had been given the same present twice for a recent birthday and they travelled to the local toy shop to exchange one of them for a new present.

While there, Azai wanted to buy a doll of Ariel the mermaid.

This led Mikki to ask the question to all dads out there: "How do you think a dad feels when his son wants to get this (the doll)?" Mikki’s response to that question is pretty amazing.

Writing in the video’s description Mikki explains his reasons for his positivity at his son’s choice of toy.

"The honest answer is, it didn’t surprise me at all," said Mikki.

"Azai is equally fascinated by princesses and robots. One moment he’s all boy, the next he’s expressing a softer, more angelic side. For me this behaviour rings more authentic than playing one note all the time."

In fact, the only reason Mikki was worried that Azai chose the doll was because he feared his son would get an unrealistic impression of female body types.

"When I saw the collection it was part of, and didn’t see much in the way of variety of skin colors or body types, I had to resist my urge to say: ’Why don’t we chose a more realistic doll?’," said the doting dad.

"I don’t want my boys to adapt to the programming that a woman should be built like a Barbie."

So Mikki then made his son check out all the dolls in the store before coming back to buy Ariel. The father is also quick to point out his wife Nadia’s role in raising their childre,n branding her a "superhero".

It seems the duo are raising there boys to believe in equality for all and we’re sure Azai and Ariel will have some wonderful adventures together.
