New film by Alcoholics Anonymous highlights dangers of addiction and how to get help

The Road Back, a 16 minute short, tells the story of four individuals and their journey from alcoholism to recovery.
The first account tells the story of a girl from a troubled family, who started drinking at age 14.
Next, a man tells of how he started drinking in college and after finally getting a job as a teacher, his life and career spiralled out of control.
Another describes a small business owner in her thirties who is married with two kids and struggling to cope with the pressures that work and family brought.
The final story is of a man who inherited the family farm and ended up selling off parts of the land to pay off debts at the banks, and at the pub.
The film highlights the many physical and mental health issues people dealing with the addiction go through, as well as the effect it has on their family.
The short also goes into detail of how AA meetings have helped the four people transform their lives for the better.
AA membership is free as they are self-supporting through their contributions.
They only require a desire to stop drinking as membership.
AA is currently marking 70 years since its first meeting in Ireland which took place in St Stephen's Green, Dublin on November 18, 1946.
