Is Starbucks already planning a second Cork city store?
Earlier this weeka number of local businesses voiced their concern against the chain's move into Cork city centre, saying "Cork people look after Cork people".
Our thoughts on Weatherspoons, Starbucks etc - if you feel the need to go to somewhere like that - we, the independents, have let you down

Social media is alight with the news that Starbucks hope to open on 11 Emmett Place / 9 Opera Lane, in the listed building recently vacated by Kuyichi.
It's official .. @Starbucks have lobbed in planning to change this Listed Queen Anne building into a Café http://t.co/ixM9jvEl4j

Local businesses have been quick to react on social media. Bradley's Off Licence on North Main Street says that Starbucks are "not the tenant you would hope for in a beautiful landmark building like that".
@denisoregan @pkellyonline @idahocafe @despod The attraction of the location is obvious for sure…but in a listed building!:(

Mairead Jacob of Idaho Cafe labelled it as "a shame" that both Starbucks and Nandos could open in that location and "two of Corks nicest buildings [will] be trashed".
@JLM_cork @idahocafe @Starbucks Unreal. Two of Corks nicest buildings to be trashed!

Some have pointed out that it will be one less empty building in the city centre. One person tweeted that he "would prefer Starbucks to it being empty".
