So...The ’awkwardly shaped’ Christmas lights are not to be found in Tyrone

We can now state however that the lights in question are not to be found in Co. Tyrone.

Ivor Paisley, Director of Corporate Services – Cookstown District Council, has confirmed to us that the lights in question are not to be found in the town.

The Northern Ireland county does in fact have a beautiful display of Christmas lights.

Cookstown was not the only place where poeple have claimed to have spotted these questionable decorations.

Rumours of sightings have also come from Tallaght in Co. Dublin on the Cookstown Road.

This story is claimed to have originated by Dublin band, Leaders of Men, who have since deleted the post on thier Facebook page.

The photo in question has been doing the rounds on social media sites for a few years now with people claiming that the lights could be found in places such as Moscow, Reykjavik and West Virginia in the US.

The truth be told, we are not quite sure where this picture has come from but we can confirm today that it was not Cookstown in Co. Tyrone.
