Thousands are expected to gather atop the hill to watch over 60, fearless and foolhardy racers make their way down one of the world's steepest Red Bull Soapbox Race tracks.

One group of Cork-based archaeologists from Rubicon Heritage in Cork will be taking their place at the event in the hope of raising money for Chernobyl Children International Organisation.

Team Wheela-Na Gig's soapbox is a three-wheeled, archaeology and mythology inspired creation that Jonathan, Stephen, George and Enda have been working hard on over the past weeks to perfect their masterpiece.

You can follow their progress and donate to their charitable effort in supporting the Chernobyl Children International Organisation HERE.

Another interesting entrant comes from the Midelton Fire and Rescue team.

Join Ken, Mike, Mark, Ken #2, and Dougie as they show us their effort for this years downhill race.

The lads are racing on behalf of East Cork Rapid Response and you can find out more about them right here.

The race is a free public event and will be hosted by Hector Ó hEochagáin with a panel of celebrity judges from the world of sport and entertainment. Even Dustin the Turkey will be on hand to offer his input.

The international event is open to all amateur drivers who have a homemade soapbox with teams judged on speed, their performance by the crowd and design.
