Alaa, an ambulance driver, buys about $4 of meat everyday to feed the abandoned cats in Masaken Hanano. He cares for about 150 cats in the area.

The neighborhood in Aleppo has been abandoned by residents because of shelling from forces loyal to Syria's president Bashar Al-Assad. The cats were left behind by their fleeing owners.

Alaa said that he has been feeding and taking care of the cats for over 2 months.
