UTV agrees €8m new media deal

The Belfast-based media group will pay an initial consideration of £1.7m, with a deferred final consideration of around £5m payable depending on the Dublin firm’s future trading performance.

Simply Zesty specialises in providing marketing services to clients looking to market via social media websites.

Established in 2009, and 22 people employed, the company already has an impressive client base including Sony, Volkswagen and e-bookers.com.

The Dublin company’s international presence is such that already as much as 15% of its annual revenues are coming from outside of Ireland.

Its staff and management team — including chief executive Ken Fitzpatrick and co-founders Niall Harbison and Lauren Fisher — will remain at the company.

UTV group chief executive, John McCann said: “The social media presence of UTV Media’s radio and television stations in the UK and Ireland will also be enhanced by the acquisition of Simply Zesty, facilitating far greater integration of media across online and broadcast platforms.”
