Passenger rise for Aer Lingus Regional

It marks the second consecutive month of growth for passenger numbers on its Cork routes.

Last month, the airline reported a return to growth on the routes in April with a 13% increase in passenger numbers.

The airline also reported a 49% increase in passenger numbers flying to and from Dublin, and 15% growth in the figures from Shannon Airport in May.

Simon Fagan, Stobart Air’s chief commercial officer, said they are very pleased with the trends.

“Our Cork network is crucial to the success of the airline,” he said.

“In March we opened a new route to Newcastle and expanded existing routes which has contributed to the growth of passenger numbers these past months.”

He paid tribute to the team at Cork Airport which won the Customer Service Award at the Irish Aviation Industry Awards earlier this week.

Aer Lingus Regional flew a total of 122,079 passengers on its entire network, an increase of 35%.

The overall network figures represent the 11th consecutive month of growth for the airline.
