New Digital Hub office space to open next month

Close to 1,000sq metres of much-needed office space for digital companies is set to come on stream in the coming weeks as a refurbished 19th century building prepares to open its doors.

New Digital Hub office space to open next month

The Grainstore, a four-storey, 989sqm former whiskey distillery grain store, is set to welcome new companies next month, helping to alleviate space shortages in the area.

The Grainstore stands adjacent to the well-known Digital Depot building at The Digital Hub, which is a campus of eight buildings located in close proximity to each other.

With seven offices, it is expected to open in the next three weeks.

Originally part of the Marshalsea Prison, it was subsequently used by the Roes Distillery.

At the time the refurbishment was announced last year, Digital Hub chief executive, Edel Flynn said the new office space would cater for the ongoing demand for space with its current units at near full occupancy.

At the beginning of the year, eight new companies took up residence at the Digital Hub bringing the number of businesses close to 100.

One of the new tenants was the Cork-based Tyndall ICT research centre which made its first foray into the capital.

Some 650 people are working in Hub companies making it the largest cluster of digital media, technology and internet business in Ireland.
