High interest in Kilgobbin tillage

Thursday, February 02, 2012

Three exceptional blocks of tillage land close to the Bandon river and the south west Cork coast at Kilgobbin, Co Cork are to go to auction on February 23, and there has already been considerable interest, according to selling agent, Paddy Murray of Paddy Murray Auctioneers, Bandon.

The land is some of the best in the county, he says, and traditionally has fetched high prices.

This time should be no different, as the agent is giving a pre-auction guide price of €15,000 per acre, which should take the total offering of 71 acres over a million euro.

Two of the blocks face each other across a public road (the land is divided by the Ballinadee to Ballinspittle road) — and comprise one field of 25 acres, and another of 12.

The remaining lot is a 33-acre block which is located about a kilometre away, and is described as top class.

The parcels are already subdivided and are in financially manageable lots for farmers looking to expand. But the farm can also be purchased in the entire, and Paddy Murray is looking forward to a busy auction room on the 23rd.
