Gaddafi found in hole in Sirte, says fighter (reports of Gaddafi's death unconfirmed)

There are unconfirmed reports coming out of Libya that Colonel Gaddafi has died.

It is thought he was captured earlier today by National Transitional Council (NTC) forces, who say he was wounded in both legs.

A senior NTC official has since been quoted as saying Gaddafi has died from his wounds.

An anti-Gaddafi fighter claims the former leader was hiding in a hole in Sirte, shouting "Don't shoot".

The US State Department has said it is unable to confirm the reports.
