EU top brass named


Europe has a new top duo of politicians this morning.

Belgium's Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy has been named the European Union's first permanent President.

Britain's Baroness Cathy Ashton has been named EU High Representative - more commonly known as Foreign Minister.

Both politicans are virtually unknown on the world stage

An Taoiseach Brian Cowen welcomed the appointments, saying he was delighted with the choices.
