Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor dies aged 85

The former Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor has died aged 85.

He became leader of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales in 2000, before retiring from his role in 2009.

He had been seriously ill since last month.

Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor's parents emigrated from Cork to England before the First World War.
