Ref Nigel Owens delivers great one-liner during rugby match
With the second round of fixtures in the new European Champions Cup taking place this weekend, BT Sport have released a video of a brilliant moment from one of last weekend’s matches.
Veteran referee Nigel Owens was officiating the match between Harlequins and Castres.
Welshman Owens is one of the most experienced refs in Europehaving refereed at World Cups and Heineken Cup finals. He is also openly gay as he has outlined in his autobiography Half Time.
When Harlequins hooker Dave Ward threw a particularly crooked line-out ball, Owens turned to him and delivered a killer line.
“I’m straighter than that one.”
