Footballer offers to pay for damage a fan caused while celebrating his goal

Ipswich town footballer Paul Anderson has offered to repair a ceiling damaged by a fan celebrating a goal Anderson scored at the weekend.

Ipswich town footballer Paul Anderson has offered to repair a ceiling damaged by a fan celebrating a goal from Anderson at the weekend.

Ipswich were playing Norwich in the first leg of their crucial promotion play-off tie, with a place in the Championship play-off final and possible promotion to the Premier League up for grabs.

So ardent Ipswich Town fan Ross Morgan was devastated when Ipswich went behind and then overjoyed when Anderson equalised. As he described himself, he briefly “lost it”.

Morgan leapt up and punched the air, but unfortunately the ceiling was closer than he thought and he managed to punch a hole in it.

He wasn’t too bothered, and tweeted Anderson to tell him the story.

Anderson’s response? He offered to pay for the repairs.

Morgan was delighted with the winger's kind offer, but didn’t take him up on it - saying he would do it himself.

But he did warn him about possible further damage during the return fixture this weekend, and Anderson has asked him to show some restraint.

The footballer’s generosity prompted some other Twitter users to try their luck, but we don’t think Anderson will be paying for any other 'celebrations'.
