Young woman's body recovered from River Shannon

The body of a young woman has been recovered from the River Shannon on the outskirts of Limerick city.

The body of a young woman has been recovered from the River Shannon on the outskirts of Limerick city.

It was discovered by members of the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue unit shortly before 9am near the village of Meelick.

It is believed the body may be that of a teenage girl from Limerick city who has been missing for over a month.

The remains have been taken to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
