Video and photos show the force of Storm Desmond in Donegal
A video and pictures have shown the power of Storm Desmond in Co Donegal today.
Taken from Cruit Island in the west of the county this afternoon, the clip shows a large swell swamping the camera of kayaker and climber Iain Miller.
Iain said the average speed of the winds was well over 100km/hr and they blew the waves in the bay to an average height of about eight metres.

As can be seen towards the end of the footage, the waves were crashing over the cliffs and Iain said they reached heights of approximately 25 metres.
Met Eireann has issued its highest weather warnings for all of Connacht, as well as counties Donegal, Clare and Kerry where up to 60 millimetres of rain is forecast.

Drivers are being warned against any unnecessary travel with flooding a factor on many roads throughout Ireland.

Meanwhile, thousands of people are without power around the country this afternoon.
The worst affected areas are in the north west of the country.
