Ulster Bank: Backlog of payments may not be cleared until end of week

Ulster Bank has said that it could take until the end of the week to clear a backlog of payments after a technical fault.

The glitch has caused disruption to payment services for over 100,000 customers.

Opening hours at 80 branches will be extended tomorrow - with banks staying open until 6pm to cater for customers.

The Bank has said it has encountered a number of minor issues linked to the malfunction which still need to be resolved.

However CEO of RBS Corporate Banking including Ulster Bank - Chris Sullivan - said they are dealing with the fault - and are working to get back to business as usual.
