Gardaí have today arrested two men after uncovering a substantial cannabis-growing operation, and drugs worth nearly €500,000, in Co Louth.

Gardaí have today arrested two men after uncovering a substantial cannabis-growing operation, and drugs worth nearly €500,000, in Co Louth.

Acting on intelligence they had gathered as part of an ongoing operation, the Garda National Drugs Unit and gardaí from Dundalk searched a house in the Seatown area of the town this morning.

They seized around 800 cannabis plants, along with seven kilos of herbal cannabis - with an estimated street value of up to €400,000.

The two men, aged 31 and 42, are being held at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
