Travellers need dedicated VEC places - research

Dedicated places for Travellers should be made available in the VEC system to enable their further education, according to a new report on Traveller education, which is being launched today.
Obstacles to Travellers' education include prejudice and welfare dependency, according to the research conducted by Dr Niamh Hourigan of UCC.
Cultural issues are also a factor, with many young travellers getting married rather than finishing their education.
