Thousands of people around the country will attend memorial services later to remember all those who have been killed on the country's roads.

Today is World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims.

Since records began in 1959, more than 23,000 people have died on Irish roads, with 166 people being killed in road traffic accidents so far this year.
