Taoiseach under fire over energy firms' rebranding

The Taoiseach has blamed a dictat by the energy regulator for a multi-million euro rebranding of Bord Gáis and the ESB.

It has emerged that Bord Gáis alone will spend €40m on a new name and marketing campaign.

It comes at a time when thousands of homes have been disconnected for failing to pay their bills, with thousands more people struggling.

Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore told the Taoiseach in the Dáil this morning that the money should not be spent.
