Irish young people are the most prolific users of cannabis in the EU.

A new EuroBarometer study has 28% of Irish young people have tried the drug in the past 12 months, well above the EU average of 17%.

Only 58% of young Irish men and women have said they have never taken cannabis which is the third lowest in Europe and well below the average of 69%.

The study also showed the Irish are most likely to have used legal highs at 22%, almost three times the European level.
