Search to resume for man missing in Cork
Searches are due to resume in Cork this morning for a missing man amid fears he has drowned.
A major search was mounted last night, centred on Ballincollig Regional Park on the western outskirts of Cork city, after the family of a man in his 60s contacted gardaí.
The man, who is understood to be single, is from the Ballincollig area. His car was found in the park's car park with his phone inside.
Searches yesterday evening focused on the River Lee which flows through the park, where water levels were high yesterday after a day of heavy rain.
The Irish Coastguard helicopter from Waterford, up to 20 gardaí and up to 40 members of Crosshaven Coastguard were involved in the search, which was called off at around 9.30pm.
Efforts to locate the missing man are due to resume around 9am.
