Report to highlight plight of prisoners' families

A new report to be launched later this morning has found that there is a lack of support networks for the children and families of prisoners.

The Irish Penal Reform Trust commissioned the report to explore the effect on family members and to highlight the lack of policy surrounding the issue.

They argue that children of prisoners often become the silent victims of the prison service and that systems need to be put in place to protect them.
