Protesters gather for anti-Property Tax demonstration

Thousands of people are making their way through Dublin this afternoon protesting against the property tax and austerity.

They are making their way from Parnell Square to Dublin Castle where EU Finance Ministers are meeting.

Protesters say they want to highlight their message to the Labour Party in particular by waving red cards.

"It's to send a message to the Labout Party in particular," said Socialist MEP for Dublin Paul Murphy.

"We're going to show Labour the red card, with tens of thousands of people holding that red card up to Labour, because Labour has absolutely betrayed all the promises that they made in the elections, all the reasons that people voted for them.

"And it should be clear to Labour that Labour is going to be absolutely wiped out in the next local and European election and in the General Election.

"They will be reduced to a rump of a couple of TDs in parliament, at best, if they continue with this policy."
