Pensioner dies in road accident

A pensioner has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash involving a police car, the PSNI said tonight.

The 88-year-old man died last night – six days after the crash on the Glenshane Road in Derry.

The police officer who was driving the PSNI vehicle sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries in the collision.

The Police Ombudsman has launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
