The parents of a 5-year-old girl killed in an arson attack at her father's home have said they are pleased with her killers 13 year jail term.

33 year old John Lynch from Church View in Boyle, Roscommon was sentenced today for the manslaughter of Mari Connolly Keane in October last year.

He also received concurrent 8 year jail terms for committing arson with intent to cause harm, and for assault causing harm to Mari Connolly Keane's father Richard who will not walk unaided again, after falling while trying to rescue his daughter from the blaze in October last year.

Richard Connolly told Shannonside Radio that he believes justice has been done:

"I'm happy with the sentence, I think he deserves 13 years and I hope he serves every day to the end of it", he said.

"…I want to thank all the guards that helped me in the case, they worked hard and we are after getting our conviction today and let Mari rest from today on".Home
