O Cuiv and Carey get vacant ministerial posts

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has assigned the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government to Minister Éamon Ó Cuív and the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to Minister Pat Carey.

Mr Cowen made the decision following the resignation of John Gormley and Eamon Ryan today.

The Taoiseach today also received the resignations of Ministers of State Ciarán Cuffe and Mary White and upon his advice, the President has accepted them.
