Victims of severe flooding across the country last November are facing new problems with their insurance policies.

A number of residents in Cork have been told that when they renew their policy it will not provide cover for flooding, despite some premiums seeing a huge increase.

Greg Franklin, who is a resident of the Middle Parish in Cork city and is involved in the local Flood Action Committee, said the problem was going to be widespread as policies came up for renewal.

"They put up my premium by over 300%. My insurance went from €219 to €690 and that excludes flood cover," he said.
