Several people have been hospitalised after taking a new type of synthetic ecstasy.

The drug is blue in colour and is known as 'Casper' or 'Blue Ghost' and is believed to have hallucinogenic properties.

Three people have reportedly been treated in Dublin hospitals, and another two in Cork, after taking the pill.
