Man seriously ill in hospital after crash with garda car

A man is in a critical condition in hospital following a crash involving a garda car and another vehicle at the Red Cow in Dublin.

Three other people, including two gardai, were injured in the incident.

Gardaí were attending a minor accident on the N7 near the Red Cow interchange when their patrol car was hit from behind by another car just before 3am this morning.

The gardaí, a woman and a man, were treated for minor injuries and were discharged from hospital this morning.

The male driver of the other vehicle has also been discharged, but the male passenger remains in hospital and is in a critical but stable condition.

Gardaí in Clondalkin are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them.

The Garda Ombudsman Commission has also launched an investigation.
