Kenny pledges changes to childcare sector coming

Taoiseach Enda Kenny hass promised whatever measures necessary to stamp out the activities of children being abused in creches as exposed on 'PrimeTime' last night.
Mr Kenny told the Dáil it was an abuse of responsibility and that these creches should not be an industry as childcare and child protection are professions.
He promised progress on the 'Children First' legislation and establishment of the Child and Family Support Agency within weeks.
And Mr Kenny says this will result in real change in the way these creches are regulated and operated.
"We will take whatever measures are necessary to stamp out that appalling situation," he said.
"That's why there's a garda investigation and a HSE investigation going on here.
"When this family agency is set up, I don't want to see it as just another agency with a new name and the same old standards.
"We won't stand for that, and the minister will supervise it."
Meanwhile Minister for Social Protection Joan Burton says parents need to be more involved with creches to ensure their children are getting the best care possible.
