The Army Bomb disposal team will this morning examine the scene of a bomb attack in Dublin overnight.

An explosive device - believed to be a hand grenade - was thrown at a house in Lorcan O'Toole Park in Sundrive just after 10pm last night.

It is understood there were a number of people in the house at the time, but no one was injured.

Extensive damage was caused to the outside of the property however, and minor damage was caused to a house next door and a car parked in the driveway.

Gardaí will this morning carry out house to house enquiries to try and establish whether one or a number of people were behind this attack.

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious to come forward.
