Health Minister receives petition from symphysiotomy survivors
Survivors of Symphysiotomy have handed in a petition to Health Minister James Reilly, calling on him to lift the bar that prevents them from seeking compensation.
Around 1,500 women had the procedure carried out during childbirth from the 1950s to the 1980s which has left many of them with permanent injuries.
More 22,000 people signed the petition and it was presented to an all-party support group at Leinster House.
