Government under pressure after today's unemployment figures

The government is coming under fire after the release of the latest unemployment figures today.

New Live Register numbers put the number of people claiming the dole at more than 451,000.

The new figures put the rate of unemployment at an 18-year high.

The Irish Congress of Trade Unions has said that the Government must stimulate demand, in order to get some life back into the domestic economy.
