Fitzgerald confirms independent review into Siteserv deal

The Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald has said an independent review into the Siteserv deal will take place.

However, Fitzgerald added the form of that inquiry will be decided by Finance Minister Michael Noonan.

The Government is under increasing pressure over the former Anglo Irish Bank's deal to sell the company to Denis O'Brien's Millington - at a loss to the taxpayer of over €100m.

The Comptroller and Auditor General has said the private company would not come within his remit.

Minister Fitzgerald has said the Government is keen to get to the bottom of the matter.

“Just to be clear that the Government wants the full facts emerge – that’s important,” said Fitzgerald.

“We’ll make sure that happens by whatever appropriate type of independent review needs to take place.”
