Fine Gael TD calls for expulsion of Papal Nuncio

A senior Fine Gael TD is calling for the Papal Nuncio to be expelled from the country.

Charlie Flanagan made the call in the wake of the Cloyne report.

Earlier the Tánaiste and Foreign Affairs Minister Eamon Gilmore hauled in Guiseppe Leanza and told him the Government wanted an explanation from the Vatican as to why the guidelines on dealing with child abuse were ignored.

"If official representatives of another jurisdiction conspired with citizens of the State wither to commit crime or to conceal the commission of a crime, their position would be untenable," he said.
