An eighth person has died at a private nursing home in Donegal, after a flu outbreak there.

This latest death is thought to have been caused by Influenza A, the flu strain that killed six other elderly people at the Nazareth Home in Buncranca recently.

The HSE confirmed the death of a seventh resident on Friday, but said they didn't think that fatality was linked to the other flu-related deaths.

All of the residents at the home are currently receiving either active or preventative treatment.
