Children among 15 hurt in Kerry crash

15 people have been injured following a crash in Co Kerry.
It is understood several children were hurt in the accident, which happened on the outskirts of Farranfore.
The crash happened at 5.40pm, two miles from the village of Farranfore on the Killarney direction of the main N22 Killarney-Tralee road.
Most of the injured were travelling in a Renault Trafic minibus, which had a trailer attached, that collided with a Peugeot car.
Two people are thought to have sustained serious but not life threatening injuries and it is understood the other 13 were not seriously injured.
Four helicopters were also dispatched to the scene; two from the Irish Coastguard Service and two from the Irish Air Corps.
Six casualties were airlifted to Cork University Hospital and nine casualties were taken to Kerry General Hospital. Kerry General Hospital activated its Emergency Response Plan, normal practice in large scale accidents, to enable it to provide a full response to the accident.
A total of 15 people have been taken to hospital, six to Cork University Hospital and 9 to Kerry General Hospital. Four adults were involved along with 11 children.
The section of the N22 Killarney to Tralee Road will be closed to traffic for the remainder of the night while a garda technical examination is carried out.
