Barnados asks Government to invest in public services to address child poverty issue

Barnardos worked with over 13,000 children and families affected by poverty last year.

The figures released today by Barnados show that since the general election, about 300 children have become homeless.

The charity says these children have been unaffected by the economic recovery.

June Tinsley from Barnados has said the new Government must invest in public services to address the issue.

“The economic recovery is not being felt at all,” said Tinsley.

“Child poverty is destroying childhoods. We know this and the politicians know this, and yet not enough is being done to tackle this issue.”
