Anti-abortion campaigners from across the country are converging in Dublin today for a large rally in the city centre.

Former MEP Dana Rosemary Scallon will be among those attending. The rally is due to take place at the Garden of Remembrance in Parnell Park at 2pm.

Meanwhile, pro-choice groups will stage a simultaneous counter-rally at 2pm at the Spire on O'Connell St, and are calling on the Government to legislate for the X case as a matter of urgency.

Pro-choice activist Suzanne Lee said opinion polls had consistently shown the majority of Irish people favoured a women's right to choose in most circumstances, including in cases of incest and rape, and where the mother's life is at risk.
