Amazon jobs 'reinforce position of Ireland as tech hub'

More than 200 new positions were announced today in Dublin, Carlow and Limerick.

More than 200 new positions were announced today in Dublin, Carlow and Limerick.

Amazon is expanding its Dublin operation with the creation of 100 jobs, while product sales hub start-up Buyersclub.ie is hiring 40 staff.

In Limerick, Action Point Technology - a development by two UL graduates - has announced 50 new jobs, while Merck healthcare is adding 20 jobs in Carlow.

Paul Sweetman is from ICT Ireland said the high-tech sector was booming in Ireland.

"We have all of the top 10 companies in the technology sector with significant presences in Ireland," he said.

"The Amazon jobs announcement really reinforces the strength of Ireland as a location for technology centres globally."
