Ahern: I use my own car at weekends

The Minister for Justice has said he does not use his state car at weekends unless he has a work-related engagement.

Dermot Ahern also said uses his own car at weekends and also cycles around his home town of Dundalk, Co Louth.

The Minister was speaking after his Cabinet colleague and Green Party leader John Gormley said he wanted to take away dedicated Ministerial cars, and instead introduce a pooling system.
