A female pedestrian has died following a collision.

Gardaí in Thurles are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Moyneard, Moyne, Co Tipperary today.

The collision between a van and a 39-year-old female pedestrian occurred at approximately 4.10pm on a minor road, the Moynead Cross to Shanballyduff Cross road.

The female pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision and pronounced dead at the scene, her body has been removed to the Morgue at Limerick Regional Hospital.

The 55-year-old male driver of the van was uninjured in the collision.

The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and local traffic diversions are in place.

It is expected that the road will remain closed until at least tomorrow morning.
